'Urban Bike Park' Plan for Leeds

Great news from Leeds where plans have been submitted for a new multi-discipline cycling attraction to be based on the old municipal Middleton Park golf course

Leeds City Council aims to build on the legacy of the Tour de France to create a cycling facility for the local population and become a destination for enthusiasts from around the country.

The Park would include a 6,430 metres competition standard mountain bike trail with supporting cycling features including a skills zone, a pump track and jump zone. A cycling café, shop and bike maintenance workshops are also envisaged.

A specialist design consultancy Bike Track.org has been appointed to create the bike course alongside a recreational facility. It is thought the cross country trail would run partly through the woodland and partly on the newer parts of the former golf course.

Additional supporting features and trails are expected to attract a wider range of riders and provide skills development and training opportunities on some of the former fairways.

Hopefully the project will create plenty of new opportunities to work in the Leisure sector and if you are interested in this area check out the great vacancy at Snozone in Castleford.
