What a great time for Hull and its community. Soon to be invested as the UK’s City of Culture it is also leading the way in green technologies with port operator ABP unveiling investment plans of £140m into new quays to service the growing offshore windfarms, Reckitt Benckiser is spending £150m on a state-of-the-art research and development centre, a new £200m Energy Works that will generate energy from household waste is to be built, chemical firm INEOS Oxide is to undertake a multimillion pound expansion of its Hull site, and work has already started on the £310m investment in Siemens site, creating 1,000 new jobs in the process. With all of these investments contributing to the pool of high-skilled jobs in the city Hull really is becoming a destination City in the region.
